What do you want to download with archive manager?

Archive manager (file-roller) is used to display and manage the contents of archive files that you have already downloaded to your computer.

Downloads from the internet are usually done with help of your internet browser software (such as firefox, ...), or from command line terminals with wget. Software updates are downloaded with applications like update-manager or synaptic, or from command line with apt-get or aptitude.

I assume you want to tell that update-manager does not work any more?
If that is the case, please provide more details what is happening on your system, especially provide the exact text of error messages if shown.

If your question is not about 'updates not working' but something else, please also provide more information about what you want to achive, what you have tried, and what the outcome was.

Archive: /tmp/download_Ladbrokes.exe
[/tmp/download_Ladbrokes.exe]
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /tmp/download_Ladbrokes.exe or
/tmp/download_Ladbrokes.exe.zip, and cannot find /tmp/download_Ladbrokes.exe.ZIP, period.

The file you are trying to open (download_Ladbrokes.exe) is not an archive. It is a Windows program. It is possible to run some Windows programs on Ubuntu with Wine (you can get Wine by installing the package called wine in the Software Center, then right-clicking on a downloaded .exe file and clicking Wine Windows Program Loader or Open With > Wine). Not all Windows programs will work with Wine. Information about Wine compatibility for some Windows programs as available at http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&sTitle=Browse%20Applications&sOrderBy=appName&bAscending=true.

However, you should be very cautious about running Windows programs (or any software) unless the programs come from a trusted source.

If you tell us what you are trying to do, that you were trying to use the file download_Ladbrokes.exe to accomplish, we may be able to tell you a way to do it in Ubuntu.

If you are trying to play poker online at Ladbrokes.com, you should be able to do this at http://poker.ladbrokes.com/en/poker-products/instant-play, without installing any software from their website. (You may have to install the Flash player plugin, if you do not already have it installed.)

Can you help with this problem?
