new digital camera why can't i use the installation cd to store my pics

purchased a SLICK Digital camera ,tried to install the camera& web divers with the CD that came with the camera,when i placed the CD in the PC CD-ROM drive it keep popping up ERROR in installation instead of the screen shown on the digram that should walk me through the steps of installation.What is going on .I just found out that my printer doesn't work with my PC anymore since i changed over pleas don't tell me this is just another product that doesn't compatible with Ubuntu

The CD will be for Windows. Ubuntu is not Windows, it is a distro of Linux. Most cameras (if its a point and shoot) then try f-spot.

What make/model is the printer?

ok thanks for your reply my camera is a slick and as far as i know is a point and shoot so what do i do with f-spot try and downloadthe cd with it or pull up the pic s? My printer is a Lexmark ink jet scanner/printer/fax in one (x5650es)

You only need the CD if you are using Windows. Ubuntu is not Windows so forget the CD. F-spot should be able to talk to the camera. I suggest you read the manual to see if it can be made to appear as a plain storage device
