sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa; sudo apt-get update;clear; apt-cache search firefox | grep ^fire

You can now install any version from te latest build of 3.5 all the way to 3.7. There is also Thunderbord 3.1 on the same PPA.

Go nuts buddy

HI :)

It looks as though you are trying to do things the Windows way rather than the linux way. If you try doing things the linux way then you will find that a lot of this stuff is really easy. I suspect that you are making things unnecessarily complicated by working against linux ways. Don't worry tho. Most of us did exactly the same.

Linux uses "package managers" so that people don't have to hunt around the internet to find dubious websites to download and install stuff wondering whether the site has been compromised or if it's a hoax site or whether even a legit program will act more like malware than the real thing. By contrast the package managers look after all that searching around for you and check to make sure the site is legit for you. My favourite package manager is Synaptic although i can keep using the other 2 main ones because they all use the same databases and lists of places to search. So, from the top taskbar click on

System - Administration - Synaptic

and then use either search tool to search for the functionality you want to add. Just a few vague words works well because they search in the package descriptions as well as the package titles.
