Sean Fitzpatrick, thank you for your comments. Regarding them https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/1075035/comments/10 :

I am planning to apply a "workaround" this week of a GeForce 650 I got a good deal on :-) I'll hold off on swapping the cards in case you need me to follow up on anything. I'm not using the Firestream for any GP-GPU computing or any of the heavy number-crunching it's intended for so it's a bit of a silly card to have in my machine anyway."

Unfortunately, I'm currently at an impasse regarding the next step. However, I did bring this bug report to the attention of the Ubuntu X team (maintainers of fglrx-*) as per https:/ /lists. ubuntu. com/archives/ ubuntu- x/2012- November/ 001237. html .
At this point, no need exists for you to wait to swap the card out.
Thank you for your understanding.
