Feed2Imap version in Trusty

Asked by Rowan @ Jetboy

I have a working Feed2Imap install on a Precise LTS server. The Feed2Imap version is 1.0-2, on top of Ruby 1.8.

As I understand it, development has gone in to Feed2Imap since v1.0 to make is compatible with Ruby 1.9. On my Trusty LTS server, the Ruby version is 1.9.1, but the Feed2Imap version still seems to be 1.0-2, not 1.2-2, the version apt thinks is installed. To clarify:

sudo feed2imap --version = Feed2Imap v.1.0
/usr/lib/vendor_ruby/feed2imap/feed2imap.rb source = 1.0

sudo apt-cache policy feed2imap = Installed: 1.2-2; Candidate: 1.2-2
https://github.com/feed2imap/feed2imap/blob/feed2imap_1.2.2/lib/feed2imap/feed2imap.rb = 1.2.1

Feed2Imap 1.0 running on Ruby 1.9.1 would explain why I'm getting errors. Can I get confirmation that there's an issue here, and a steer on how to get a working version on Feed2Imap into the repos?

I suggest you report a bug. You may find a PPA with the newer version you desire.
Trusty has 1.2-2 so upgrading to Trusty may be a solution.

I'm running Trusty, and the issue is that Feed2Imap in Trusty doesn't seem to be the advertised version. There is no PPA.

No, it isn't. From the link you've provided, open up the .deb file. E.g. from:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/feed2imap/1.2-2/+build/5263564

click on the feed2imap_1.2-2_all.deb link, navigate to data.tar\.\usr\lib\ruby\vendor_ruby\feed2imap\ in the archive, open the feed2imap.rb file in a text editor and go to line 21. It states: F2I_VERSION = '1.0'
