Asked by John DeRosa

I try to install fail2ban on 11.04. apt-get install returns a "package not found" error:

fail2ban is listed at http://packages.ubuntu.com/natty/fail2ban.

If it matters, I'm trying this on an 11.04 image on a virtual machine at Rackspace. I.e., I'm using their 11.04 Natty image.

Thanks in advance!

f you look at the link you gave, you will see it is in the universe repo, however you have this commented out:

#deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu natty-security universe
#deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu natty-security universe

As well as the multiverse:

#deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu natty-security multiverse
#deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu natty-security multiverse

If you uncomment these lines, it will be installed when you run:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install fail2ban

Ah, I missed that. THANK YOU!

Rackspace must have changed sources.lst recently in their image. This used to work just 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Thank you again!
