Import video and pictures from digital cam and IPhone

Asked by bccynic

At one time F Spot offered to download videos, but I can find that option now, and nothing seems to recognize my IPhone. Are there any recommended apps or am I out of luck?

Have you recently upgraded the IOS of your iPhone? I hit a problem recently where I changed a iPhone to IOS4.2.x and before this it would mount ok in Ubuntu, I could manage the music and copy photos and video from the device. Since that it would not mount. However lsusb would see the device ok.

The cause of this was the libimobiledevice package in ubuntu is older than the latest one. If you upgrade this one then you'll see it works again.

Have a look at this post

I added the new repository and then deselected the old libimobiledevice0 in synaptic and added the new libimobildedevice1. I think a reboot was necessary too, I cant remember exactly. Usually I note down the steps I take but in this case I was pushed for time and forgot to list down exactly what I did, hopefully this should help you though.

Can you help with this problem?
