Yahoo POP mail sends but won't receive

Asked by pricedout

Apologies if this has been addressed before but i couldn't find a solution that worked...

I have just set up Evolution to read my Yahoo mail and although at first I received all the emails in my inbox, all subsequent arrivals have no longer arrived. In fact, my inbox on the yahoo web page is empty as well.

When i click send/receive - Evolution goes thorugh the motions of downloading the mail but does not display it. I have checked the POP settings with yahoo and they seem correct. I have even upgraded to Yahoo mail plus to make sure it wasn't because i was using the free version...

I can send emails through evolution but can't read the replies!

Any ideas?

Thanks, I think. I wasn't aware I could access my Yahoo mail through Evolution at all. Since you brought it up, I've looked and found:

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-14.html

explaining how to do it. Wondering about the port information they mention there. It's possible you are blocking the port for incoming email from Yahoo with your firewall.

To be honest, even with these instructions I can't access email from my Yahoo account. I get an error message. Can you tell me what you used to set up with?

Okay, guess I got it now. Sorry. Anyway, can you tell me what your settings are or check them against the link above? Only thing I couldn't do in Evolution was set the port numbers as stated. Tricky getting the POP and SMTP setups created since they are longer than usual, check that over carefully, and make sure you are using "Login" as the authentication for sending as well as receiving.

Can you help with this problem?
