evolution stops allowing drag and drop of messages in to folders, I have to use move to folder. I did i break?

Evolution has stopped allowing drag and drop of messages from Inbox to folders. The only way to move them now is to right click on the message and use move to folder option.
This is only one of meany irritating issues. How do i manipulate the software to fix this?

This seems to be an issue with your desktop manager more than evolution.
Do you remember if you have modified any setting which can be related to grabbing or dragging?

Thanks for the quick response. I looked around for sometime of control mechanism for drag and drop, but didn't find anything. I have 3D effects enabled. I can drag and drop in other apps such as Thunar file manager etc... I used KDE in Suse for years and never had a problem. I'm not really profecient in Gnome. So if theres some time of Window manager facilty i don't know about in Gnome let me know. Problem still exists.

OK, so, you are using Gnome but instead of Nautilus are using Thunar?
I hope you don't mind me asking, but have you considered using Kubuntu or installing KDE?
Lets check also if it is Compiz, can you try to disable desktop effects and test if you can now grab/drag?

 I got it figured out. I don't want to reinstall to Kubuntu, this is my home computer with my life on it. It was already a major under taking to move to Ubuntu. I'm unix sysadmin of 10 yrs.
The problem wasn't desktop effects. I installed "alltray" which allows for minimizing apps to the systray, and have been running evolution with alltray. ran evolution with out it and my drag and drop issues have gone away.

Btw, is there any solution to seeing new mail arrival in the systray from evolution, Kmail has it. Just a thought!

I'm not aware of such a systray notification in Feisty, this is the default for Gutsy though.
Let me also add that, if you want, you can install KDE as well as Gnome (well, you can remove Gnome afterwards too).

3 years later this problem still exists. I'm glad I found this page because I really don't think I would have worked out that alltray was the problem.
