Evolution won't send or receive mail

Asked by RayArdia

Have booted Karmic from .iso CD and installed Evolution. All looks OK but can't send/receive. Have checked the mail account edit details and all seems fine.

Hi,

Some additional details needed :-)

- what's the error message?
- does your email provider support authentication? (pop-before-smtp/login/etc)

Kind regards,
Juan

Hi Juan, server is Yahoo.co.uk, and I gather that it does require authentication. Unfortunately I have not been able to find out what type.

My apologies, I forgot the first part of your request.
There was no Error message, the Send/Receive mail box just never completed its actions.

Can't blame Yahoo, Yahoo Mail works fine. As evolution still fails to work for me in Karmic I downloaded Thunderbird which worked 'straight out of the box'.
Because of othe snags with Karmic I've reverted to Jaunty. Problem solved, albeit by a lengthy process of trial and much error!
