Can no longer send or receive emails in Evolution on Ebuntu

Binary package hint: evolution

I cannot send or receive email in Evolution. When I try to send, the emails just remain in my Outbox. I cannot receive either. I occasionally get a message asking for my username (even though remember username is ticked). When I tried to type this in just now nothing appeared in the box and Evolution completely froze. When I logged in again I got this message on my desktop: "Network service discovery disabled. Your current network has a .local domain. which is not recommended and incompatible with the Avahi network service discovery. The service has been disabled."

I am new to Ubuntu, I am also facing the same problem. Not able to use evolution mail. I am using firefox and going to yahoo mail from there. Please help me configure evolution mail. I have broadband connection. I am able to surf etc, but only evolution is not working. I am not able to acess the first manager...help..

evolution no longer works: it does not transmit or receive email.

This problem surfaced about two-three weeks ago, first SMTP mail and now my POP3 mail. The system will not allow re-configuration (EDIT >> Preferences ..) or "NEW" outgoing mail.

POP3 mail (SEND/RECEIVE) will only say how many messages are incoming but NO messages.

Can anyone tell me what is going on?
