How to control cancel (cmsg cancel)

Asked by John F. Morse

Where in Evolution 2.6.1 (on Ubuntu 6.06 "Dapper Dan" GNU/Linux) is there a command to cancel a USENET article?

Perhapos the only available method is to use "cmsg cancel <message-ID>" in the subject?

I'm not talking about "deleting" a message from the local Evolution message store, but sending the control message to cancel to the remote news server. In other words NOT the message store (cache) found on my system at:

~/.evolution/mail/nntp/{servername}/cache/{cachedirectory}/{Message-ID}

Furthermore, the "Cancel" button provided in Evolution 2.6.1 is not a control cancel, but a "stop the current e-mail operation" button. It has nothing to do with canceling messages at all. This button should be labled "Stop" or something other than "Cancel" to eliminate confusion

Thanks,

John

Thanks for your question.

1) Evolution does not have an option to cancel usenet messages.
2) I'm unaware of canceling usenet messages through a subject line. I admit I haven't used the usenet since a few years, but I'm still convinced you need a "Control:" Header in your post. See http://www.faqs.org/faqs/usenet/cancel-faq/part1/ for reference. So you will be unable to fulfill that requirement with evolution.
3) "Cancel" is commonly used for canceling the current process. So it would be quite confusing for people to label this button "Stop".

You might want to file a feature request for evolution. You do so by filing a bug and adding "[feature request]" to the topic of this bug report. Just click https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+question/7713/+makebug

Can you help with this problem?
