Evolution keeps redownloading each POP box everyday

Asked by Roder

I can't figure this out and it's driving me nuts because I *REALLY* want to use evolution.

When I open up my mail, evolution attempts to re download my entire POP3 boxes every day. This must be client related because it is happening on several POP3 mail boxes. Does any body have an idea what's going on or how to stop it?

thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Matt

In Evolution go to Edit --> Preferences, select your mail account then click the edit button. In the Receiving options tab there is a tickbox "leave messages on server". This should not be ticked if you want to delete the messages after downloading.

What if I do want to leave the messages on the server so that I can access them anywhere if I am not at my desktop?

I cannot use IMAP

You might want to fill a bug report. Please add the used POP3 servers, as the developers need to check why this evolution feature fails.

Don't put to much hope in it. A lot of POP3 servers are broken, when it comes to this feature. POP3 isn't the best solution to access the mails from different locations. This is one reason why IMAP was created.

Can you help with this problem?
