Add some public folders to your "favorites" and you'll be able to see those. The only way I know how to do this is with Outlook. Right click on the public folder in Outlook and add to favorites. Then when you open up Evolution the next time, you'll see "Favorite Public Folders"

I test the change from Outlook to Evolution. So it seems, that I need an Outlook client near by to organize the public folders to my favorite public folders. So I don't get rid of Outlook and therefore I cannot move towards a clean Linux solution. Bad!

By the way: in Outlook I have a folder hierarchy in my favorite public folders. In Evolution I have all folders in a flat folder structure. Also bad!

I use Terminal Services to the server for my "outlook client" for the first connection.

If you have a lot of terminal services licenses, you may want to check out seamlessrdp as well.

I don't have a great answer about the hierarchy problem. All mine are one level.

OK. I am sitting here with two computers -- one winxp with outlook 2k and another with xubuntu feisty and evolution 2.10.1. On outlook, there is no right click option to add to favorites. There is a favorites menu at the top, but it appears to add the "favorite" to the local computer, not the exchange account. So when I go back to evolution, the public folder still isn't there.

Where are you saving this favorite?

I don't know much about Outlook 2000 unfortunately.

I do know that in Evolution 2.11.5 in Gutsy right now, I can click on "Folder -> Subscriptions" pick my exchange account and then add checkboxes to any public folders I want to see.

Maybe you can try it in Feisty to see if it works? If not, I hope I've wet your appetite for Gutsy when it hits the shelves in October '07.

By the way, not only can I select Public Folders to subscribe to, but the speed at which folders, and contacts, and calendars work when connected to exchange has increased dramatically! I mean it, dramatically!

OK will try to set up a Gutsy test machine. About half of our MIS department uses some flavor of Ubuntu personally, but the company is a mix of win2k and winXP. We have been informed by Dell that the business sales unit will no longer sell desktops with XP as of Jan 2008. We see this forced change to Vista as an opportunity to switch to Ubuntu instead. The goal is to match desktop functionality. Right now, I can do everything in Evolution that I can do in Outlook, except public folders. Better, in my opinion..

I can confirm this, I cannot access public folders too. The only thing I see is "favorite public folders". If I add some folders to the "favorite public folders" in my normal outlook I can see these in evolution.

thanks!
