problem getting emails from web.de

Asked by Ratte

Binary package hint: evolution

problem getting emails from web.de since I "downgrade" from ubuntu 9.04 back to 8.10. The sytem 8.10 is actually installed on a fresh formated new partition, but the evolution database (and all other data on /home/&USER/*) remains the same!
there is now a mismatch of columns reported between evolution folder and the received web.de-folder.

Deleting and reinstalling doesn't work because even if I use a new evolution account name, evolution remembers all my old emails from the former deleted account including the mismatch problem.

How can I reconfigure the table to match the columns?

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

Hi,

Couple of quick questions:
- Why did you downgrade from 9.04 -> 8.10?
- Have you tried to delete your old Evolution accounts out of ~/.evolution yet?

(I'd recommend that you backup your data before trying to modify files under ~/.evolution)

Hello!

Downgrade 9.04->8.10:
I downgrade because my computer falls after some time of inactivation in
sleepmodus or something else, and I could not wakeup out of this
situation. Concerning only the computer and not the monitors the energie
consumption was more or less the same than in full working situation!?
Once I switched the computer active into sleepmode (power was saved!) I
could wakeup through LAN but not complett. Ubuntu seems to recover but
my session not. Only the background image was visible, no gnome-panel or
keyboard accesible programms. Only the hard way "power-off" was working.
So , thats the reason wy I downgrade.

evolution:
deletiong and adding a new fresh account is working, but I'm missing my
contacts!

deleting and restoring from an old evolution-backup (before I
installed ubuntu 9.04), I can receive emails but I have problems to send
emails! So I send this email with the fresh configuration without my
contacts contacts.

Thank you to all who readed and answered to my problems! I'm
disappointed with ubuntu 9.04 but not with the help the ubuntu community
gave me!

My evolution problem is solved! I exported the contacts out of the database and import it in the new database.
