Deleting old messages in evolution

Asked by Shane Fagan

Can I delete old messages at regular intervals?
Why im asking is I get emails from launchpad answers and I have them going into a folder. I dont always look at all of them and the questions get answered, solved or expired. What I want to do is to delete messages older than a day or if a lot of messages come in the older ones get deleted. Anyone have an idea how to do that?

Since each email has in the subject "[Question", you can use this to filter these emails but feel free to play with this to your likeing.

Select the email in evolution in your inbox.
Right click on the email and select "Create Rule from message"
Then in the new menu select "Filter based on Subject"

The top portion of the add filter rule window will have any criteria that evolution thinks applys. But you want it to be

Subject -- contains -- [Question

In the bottom portion change the action to 'Delete'.

Click ok.

Thats it, now sometimes evolution doesn't filter existing emails, but it should start filtering with all NEW email. To filter existing email, select the email and type "Ctrl-Y" or select "Apply Filters" from the Message menu.
