Setting preferences reply to has no effect when...
I use evolution on LTS 6.06 to manage multiple accounts.
For account B, I have edited the preferences and set the reply-to address to
be that for account A (I am trying to subtly wean my correspondents to use my
new email address - when they just use the reply-to function of their email clients).
When I am viewing the inbox of account B, and then I use the New button to
compose a new email, the Compose Message windows shows the From address
is account B. This confuses me. If the from address is truly a different datum
than the reply-to address, this makes sense, but I would prefer to have the compose
window display the reply-to address that my recipient will receive with the message.
I see I have an option of selecting my account A as the from address, but I would
rather not worry about doing that. In fact, when I leave the "From" address field
i the compose message window unchanged, that is showing the account B email address,
and the recipient receives the composed email
(at least a recipient using optimum online email), the recipient DOES get the
"From" address populated with my Account A "reply-to" address, and a reply-to
action by that recipient does reply to my account A, just as I prefer.
From my point of view the whole issue seems to be that the Compose Message window in the
From field should default to the reply-to address that I have set in my preferences for the account that corresponds to the "highlighted" folder on the left of the evolution display. OR - if the "from address"
is a different datum than a reply-to address, (and the optimun online email client just shows the reply-to address as the from address) - then can you provide an option to let me cutomize the compose message window to only show the true "reply-to" address?
Thanks!
Robert
