clipboard problems

Asked by Steven

ctrl+c , ctrl+v , copy (edit menu) and paste (edit menu) does not work consistently. Sometimes you can copy through the edit menu. But pasting the clipboard contents is only possible using ctrl+v. Sometimes this does not work either, and you'll have to go back and use ctrl+c to be able to use ctrl+v. This is very tedious and I have seen this not only with Evolution mail, but also in conjunction with other programs like Open Office 2.0 . So it may or may not be a particular Evolution Mail issue but rather a Ubuntu issue.

I'm going to try and re-open this bug:
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/14472
..since I'm having the same issue.

Cut'n'pate or Drag'n'drop are not very consistently implemented things in linux, you should notice that the "select text" and "paste via middle mouse button" is even sometimes wierder than what you can experience with keyboard combos...

I can tell you from experience that this is not specific to any application, not to any linux distribution. But sometimes there's the occasional application bug thrown in there for an additional fun.
