Yes there is, it's called Contacts. If you can't see it, go to View>Window>Contacts

 I have sort of done this but how do you use it when sending emails compare with windows mail

Well, Knudsen, lets say you want to send a new message to 1 person. Just start typing the name of thid person in the "TO:" box and evolution will type in the whole e-mail. If you want to send the message to more than 1 person, just click on the TO: button and you will see a list of your contacts to choose from. Then you can choose if you want to place them on the To, CC or BCC field.
PS: If you still have problems changing from windows, there are a lot of email clients for Ubuntu. Maybe you should check out Mozilla Thunderbird if you don't like the way evolution handles your mail.
