Not sure, but some people claim that microsoft gives less priority to evolution users. Did you check this?

Why not get a gmail account? I'm using gmail as smtp server in Thunderbird and it works fine.

I am a new user of Ubuntu and, Evolution was already installed onto my new computer. I can't get the email side to work. I am using firefox, and that works ok. I am getting a message "broken Pipe". Don't understand what that is. I also downloaded "thunderbird" but can't get it up on the desktop. Any suggestions?

When do you get the message "broken pipe"? What exactly are you doing?

As for Thunderbird, to get it type

sudo apt-get thunderbird

and to start it, either type "thunderbird" into a terminal or search for it in the system menu. What do you mean by you cannot get it up on the desktop?

Can you help with this problem?
