MS Outlook 2007 files to evolution 2.24.3

Asked by Bob

I am trying to find a way to transfer my contacts and calendars form MS outlook 2007 to evolution 2.24.3.

Is there some application or utility that anyone knows of that will let evolution read and save these files?

I have been using the outlook application under windows for several versions/years so I have quite a bit of information that I would like to move and not do each one by hand.

Thanks for any help in advance. Bob.

I'm not sure but i think there are at leat 2 ways of doing this. Sadly i'm not completely clear on either of them and crucially i'm not sure which is easier. OPne method involves translating the ".pst" files i think and the other is to use the "Export" function in Outlook, i think it's either in the "File" menu or "Tools" but, someone should be able to answer your question although it might be a few hours before they get in. In the meantime please try hunting through this Answers forum as i am sure we have had a couple of questions like this recently Solved

Thanks for your patience

Thanks Tom, that makes me hopeful. <g>

Most of the answers I found after doing a search were concerning mail files not the calendar and contacts items.

I tried exporting one of my contact files from outlook but evolution didn't put all of the information in the right place and left some information out when I imported it.

But I am hopeful! Bob.

If you are still having trouble with this then please post it as a new question. Only the most recent questions tend to get looked at so posting/reposting a question just before america arrives online after work/school gives the best chance of getting a good few answers.

Thanks, I think I will give up and do the old copy/past thing and mail it all to myself and repeat the copy/paste in Evolution. Unless someone has an easier way. <g>

Bob.

lol, no doubt an easier way will become clear just afterwards - that's usually the way it goes for me anyway.

I had good luck exporting Outlook contacts to a CSV and importing them into Evolution. I couldn't easily transfer my calendar appointments so sent them in internet format and after some work figured out how to get Evolution to add them to the calendar.
I have been unable to send new/revised contacts in internet format to evolution and save them so that's my current problem.

Hope this helps!

Nicely done! Thanks for the update in this already old thread! It's good to have something for the database though, so thanks for this :)
