POP E-Mail account won't accept password

Asked by ReVan

This is the message I get when entering password on Evolution Mail:

Unable to connect to POP server mail.comcast.net.
Error sending password: Operation now in progress

I know the mail server is correct and the password is correct.

another oddity, when I go to the comcast web site and log in it shows no e-mail's, but when I do the same on my Windows Laptop my email's are there.

I'm new to linux, but I know computing very well and I'm stuck.

Thanks

Please try to temporary install Thunderbird to see if is a server issue...

To install Thunderbird simply search select and add it to your system using the System→Add/remove menu item

To install Thunderbird using terminal

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:
(if the system ask you a password give your user password, you will not see nothing when you type it, then press enter)

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install thunderbird

You will find Thunderbird into Applications→Internet menu

Hope this helps

Can you check if the properties you are using for this account in Evolution are the same to those you set on your Windows laptop?
I mean, the server and password, you said that there were correct. But, there are several other options like "secure SSL connection" and the sort, perhaps on of those is wrongly set...

Can you help with this problem?
