Want to update Evolution

Asked by Steve Auerbach

I would like to update Evolution to the latest stable version, but I can't find a .deb package to use to update it (I use Evolution on Kubuntu). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm unsure which version you mean by 'latest stable version' you

The recomended way is to upgrade to the latest stable version of the OS (ubuntu 5.10 'breezy')

You could also try the backports system (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBackports) this is a project to get programs from the development version of the OS into the stable version. This way is not supported though.

The latest stable version (as of today) for Ubuntu 8.04 is 2.22.3.1; for Gutsy is 2.12.1, for Feisty is 2.10.1. These versions provide different capabilities (each new version adds a bit more, with -- hopefully ;-) -- less bugs).

If you have the -updates repository set on Synaptic (or, in your case, perhaps Adept), then you should get the most current for your Kubuntu version.

Can you help with this problem?
