I want to be notified of new email with a sound

I want to be notified of new email with a sound. I went under edit/preferances/mailpreferences.....now what? There isn;t a way to access new email notification.................

Select the System menu in your desktop's top panel, go to Settings -> Sound, click on the "Sounds" tab, go to the "Alerts and Sound Effects" list, select "New e-mail", click on "Default", choose "Custom..." and select an audio file you want to play.

I don't have a system menu-I have
file,edit,view,insert,format ..............

Not the menu in evolution but the 'global' menu on your desktop panel, where you have the logout button and such.

Can you help with this problem?
