Evolution seems to retrieve mail but does not display

Asked by UnderstatementJones

Linux newbie trying to configure evolution to snag my gmail. Set gmail for POP access, entered account settings as it says to in the online documentation (and as just makes sense), etc. When I send/receive it seems to contact the email server, retrieve the messages (i.e., it said "downloading 1 of 36 messages), but then it doesn't display them. No error messages, nothing. Fiddled around with the view settings, no luck. I sent a test message from evolution and it showed up in my web box properly. What's going on? It doesn't seem to be a port issue - I tried :995 after the name, but no dice.

hmm evolution gets gmail messages fine for me. does it go through all the messges from 1-36 out of 36?
Are you sure you are looking in the inbox and that you don't have anything written in the search field?
Also check to see whether the messages have gone into any of the other folders.

Also, you may have set your evolution to mark messages as junk and to automatically delete junk. If this is the case, I suggest you send Junk to a Junk folder, so you can look at it in case things get incorrectly marked. :)

I'm noticing the same thing. I clicked the other folders in the left hand sidebar to see if the got dumped elsewhere but no... When I clicked again on "inbox" they were there.

Can you help with this problem?
