Send and Receive not functioning

Asked by David Vincent-Jones

The problem reported earlier now appears to have become worse.

After upgrading to Ubuntu 8.04 Evolution crashed at the completion of every manual (from the menu) 'Send and Receive'.

When I set the system to automatically get the mail every 3 minutes that appeared to temporally solve the problem. I was able to receive mail and the Outbox cleared correctly after a message was completed with a 'Send'.

This morning the 'Send and Receive' button is Grayed-Out. .... Send, after completion of a new message is not working .... Automatic receive "every 3 minutes" is not working.

I have reinstalled Evolution ... no change

I really need help on this one.

My send/receive is greyed out also.
I suspect that the internet connection is not correctly set
Therefore Evolution knows it cannot do either of those things

In the bottom left hand corner there is either
(a) - a gob that looks like a London tube station or a gyroscope
(b) - an electric plug and a socket, not plugged in.
Find these right under the word "Memos"

If you have (b) then Send and Receive is not turned on, because Evolution does not want to be connected to the web.

If you click on the plug, then it will connect and message traffic should resume, either on a timer basis or by clicking "SEND/RECEIVE". Hope this helps..
