It appears that you have an incorrect setting in the configuration of that email account. If you let us know what email provider you are using, we will be able to tell what the proper setting is.

In Evolution, open Edit (top menu bar) then scroll down to Preferences.
In that screen, click on your account to highlight it and then on Edit (on the right).
In that screen, under Receiving Mail, go down to Authentication Type, click on Check for Supported Type and the system will choose the appropriate type (for me it says Password). Place a tick into Remember Password.
In the same screen open the Sending Mail section and under Server Configuration type in the name of your mail server (example: mail.ISP.net). Tick the box for Server requires Authentication.
Under Authentication, click on Check for Supported Types and the system will find the right type (for me it says Plain or Login - I use Plain).
For username, type in your full email address, tick Remember Password and then click on OK to close that screen and Close to close the next screen.
