Group email addresses

Asked by Meteor

I am the member of a local group in charge of sending weekly information to our members. Using OE, I have the group name as the email address. This appears in the "TO" line and anything that I send goes to each member without any (major) situations.

I am moving all of my work from Window$ to Ubuntu Linux. With Evolution, I can't figure out how to set up a similar group list. The HELP function is not very clear (and maybe it was in OE a few years ago too, but I don't really remember). It seems that Evolution's HELP is telling me to make up a separate address book in the group name. If I can get that to work (haven't tried to do it as I'm still a might confused about how make up any kind of address list), do I just type in the names onto the form that appears and then just use the group name to have Evolution send the message to all of the members? If so, that's easy. If not, what am I missing or what do I REALLY have to do to make it work.

I'm not keen on typing 27 email addresses every time I need to send the information...

Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Okay,

first of all you should not write the receivers into the TO field, except you want to notify everyone about who received the Email and you want do distribute the emailaddresses. If you do not want that, send the Mail to yourself and use the BBC (Blind-Carbon-Copy) Field.

Create a "Contact List" in the address module (File->New->Contact List) to archive the desired behavior. A lot of people use mailinglists (as offered by google or yahoo for free) to distribute Mail - possibly this is also an option for you.
