autocomplete email recipents

Asked by Christian Stober

I am in the process of migrating from Outlook to Evolution. One very useful feature in Outlook that I've been unable to find or activate in Evolution is autocompletion of email recipients. For example, if my contacts contained John Doe, Mary Jane, and Elvis Presley, I'd be able to type the following in an email:

To: John Doe; Mary J; E P

and it would fill in the email addresses automatically so long as the names weren't ambiguous (e.g. if there was also a Mary Johnson or Evan Patrick in my address book). In the case of ambiguity it would provide a context menu for me to be able to pick the intended recipient.

Does anyone know how to turn on or use such a feature for Evolution?

Thanks

What you have to do is go to Mail Preferences and select the Automatic Contacts tab, make sure there is a check next to Automatically create entries in the address book when responding to mail
