pop says my id or password is invalid

pop says my id or password is invalid whe i use evolution, yet the same id and password work in webmail. here is what i get ----

Unable to connect to POP server pop.east.cox.net.
Error sending password: -ERR invalid user name or password.

Please enter the POP password for <email address hidden> on host pop.east.cox.net

Did you maybe have the security settings wrong? i.e. a tls that the server does not have?

I have exactly the same problem. I think i must have made a typo when I did the configuration at the first start up of evolution. But, I have searched widely for a way to correct this; no luck. I can change the log in password but not evolution.
