Probably, you need to verify you have mail on your server without downloading it into your mail client (evolution)?

Then try to install "mail-notification" package from universe repository. Maybe it will help.

Please open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mail-notification mail-notification-evolution

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

Hope this helps

Thanks marcobra

my mail-notification and mail-notification-evolution are already the latest version. But this doesn't solve my problem. Mail notification only works when evolution is open. But i need to get a notification on a new mail and need to open Evolution to read it.
