how to configure outgoing email

hi,
we are new to linux so unable to configure outgoing mails on evolution.we are able to receive mails but their is problem in sending mails.we are using airtel broadband connection & the mail configuration for the same is as follows :
INCOMING SERVER : pop.gmail.com
SERVER OPTION : LOG ON USING SECURE
OUTGOING SERVER : smtp.gmail.com
ADVANCED OPTIION : THIS SERVER REQUIRES A SECURE CONNECTION
ENCRYPTED CONNECTION (SSL)
SMTP : 465
POP : 995
PLEASE SUGGEST HOW TO CONFIGURE OUTGOING MAILS.
ALSO THE MOVIE PLAYER TOTEM IS ALSO NOT WORKING.IT DOESN'T PLAY ANYTHING & FOR INSTALLATION OF CODECS.WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT.WE WERE USING WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER EARLIER.

Using Evolution with gmail, the following setup should be used:

Server Type: SMTP
Server: smtp.gmail.com
Server requires authentication - ticked
Use Secure Connection: TLS Encryption
Auth Type: PLAIN
Username: full gmail address.

With regards to codecs, try (after enabling the extra multiverse/restricted repositories) running

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
