Evolution in Edgy Ubuntu not deleting "bad" emails

Some span and scam emails don't disappear when deleted from Evolution in Edgy Ubuntu. A line crosses out the display, but the email persists in its folder rather than going to Trash and then Purged. Is this a bug in Evolution, or is it some kind of "sticky malware"?

This happened before and I suspected my installation had become corrupted, so I re-installed Edgy just 2 days ago. The same pattern continues.

Hi,
You have an option in View -> Hide deleted messages
With this option active you don't view deleted messages but they are still in the trash. Delete from the trash is simply, File -> Empty trash.
