Date format in Evolution

Asked by Bookmaster

In the Evolution mails, dates are in dd time (e.g. Tue 4:21 PM) format. For us Europeans this is quite confusing, since we are used to dd/mm/yyyy (or dd.mm.yyyy in my country).

How can I change date format in Evolution mails please?

ps: part of text is taken from another question (Open Question #26273, asked on 2008-03-04 by Chris Watts).

I saw that answer but that still didn't solve my problem or I don't understand what do I have to do.

try this:
open a terminal as a common user and type

LANGUAGE=it_IT.UTF-8 LC_TIME=us_US.UTF-8 /usr/bin/evolution

your view will have the us date standard and will be localized in US

Tip from here:

Bookmaster,

There's nothing for you to do, but wait. The last comment in the bug indicates that the bug was forwarded to Gnome. Once they have corrected the problem, updates in Ubuntu and other distributions will follow.

You can track the progress of the bug by clicking the link under "Assigned to" in the Ubuntu bug report Tony provided above.

Unless a user somewhere has provided a work-around, the only thing you can do is wait.

Please return to Launchpad and mark this question Solved, if this resolves your question.

Thanks!

Harvey

Ok, but I have another question.

I'm running Ubuntu GG 64-bit. Evloution version is 2.12.1. I did download version 2.23.4.

How can I install that newer version over old one please? (maybe that will solve my problem)

Will I loose my email messages if I do install new version over old version of Evolution please?
