Sync evolution between two computers

Asked by Ron Banks

How can I sync Evolution's contacts, calendars, tasks between two computers? They are both running Ubuntu 8.04 and are networked together. Thanks.

Ron,

Evolution cannot 'sync' data between computers, so far as I know. If the objective is to transplant all of the data on computer A to computer B, then you can backup the data on A, and restore it to B using the method defined in this link:

   http://www.backuphowto.info/how-to-backup-data-in-evolution

If the objective is to synchronize the data used on both machines, then you are looking at a collaboration server. At present Evolution only supports exchange and groupwise:

Please return to Launchpad and mark the question Solved if this resolves your issue.

Thanks!

Harvey

I won't say that it solves my problem which is what the link says on the forum. However, it does answer the question.

This is a workaround not a solution.
I remember trying this with a rsync cron-job in the past, but this gave me problems.
Guess it had something to do with active daemons on both pc's.
But it has been a long time since I tried to fix this, so can't recall te exact issue
