Evolution has stopped sending or receiving mail

Asked by John Wilson

I moved my computer from a location where my internet was wired to another location, different modem and a wireless connection. I am using gmail wit POP enabled.
When I opened up Evolution the Send/Receive button is greyed out.
If I send a new message it languishes in the outbox going nowhere.
The internet works well so my machine is up to date, I have reinstalled Evolution using synaptic and I have tried reinstalling the mail preferences as:
Server type: POP
Server: pop.gmail.com
Security: SSL
Authentication: password (haven't been asked for it)
Sending e-mail: SMTP
Server configuration: smtp.gmail.com
Security: TLS encryption
Authentication: plain
These are gmails instructions.
What should I try next?

Hello

Please make sure evolution is working online..

If its in offine mode send/receive option will be grayed out... (It will not be active)

if so,

Select File -> work online allows you to use the send/receive button.

Secondly,

Report a bug

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bugs is typically where evolution bugs should go, but first i would make sure that it is a bug.

If nothing works

Switch to Thunderbird and try......

Here is more info about thunderbird in ubuntu

Hope it helps
