configuring mstt corefonts into ubunto

when I go to Synaptic Manager to install the fonts, I get a message that says: "The following packages have unresolved dependencies. Make sure tht all required repositories are added and are dependable." I am a little fed up at this point, this laptop is brand new and I can't seem to get past anything. I am also have a problem adding my signautre. I have typed it in and it doesn't appear when I send an email to another address. I need help ASAP!

Can you try opening a terminal window (Applications menu, Accessories) and type...

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
