Wrong email being shown

Asked by Kimico Myers

The following is a description of the problem I am having:
Let's say that I have 10 emails in my inbox. My problem is that when I open an email I don't see the contents of that email. Instead, I see the contents of another email in the inbox. For example, if I double-click on the first email in my inbox to open I would instead be opening the 3rd or 4th email in the inbox. Or, if I have the preview pane displayed and click on the 2nd email in my inbox within the preview pane the contents of another email, maybe the 5th or 7th in my inbox, will be displayed. Has anyone encountered this behavior?

This is my first time using Evolution as Thunderbird has been my preferred client over the past few years. I've just installed Ubuntu 8.04 and wanted to try the client as it has a nice interface, similar to Thunderbird's. However, I believe I will switch back as this error is crazy.

Also, how can I configure the date column in mail view to display the actual date vs only displaying the day of the week and time the email was received?

Thanks.

I had similar problems. In my case the corruptions of data is only during the starting of Evolution.
On the opening it is reading the folders and at the same time getting messages from the server. When there are plenty on both it is unable to handle the two operations together. As a workaround I close Evolution in off-line so that at the next opening there is not the double task. To repair the corrupted folder seems enough to copy the messages onto a different folder and then back again to Inbox.

is there a bug related to this?

in my case i lost a couple of mails (and that i consider _very bad_). I started deleting the usual spam by subject and only later noticed the corrupt inbox folder. Looking for help i found this workaround, but i was unable to restore and fix my inbox.

I defently need an E-Mail Client that shows me the correct body to an listed email.
