yahoo does not support pop and snmp for non paid accounts. Are you attempting to use evolution on a free yahoo account?

argh. typos! But if you have a free account at yahoo you might be better off consider gmail. Gmail supports pop/smtp and imap on its free email accounts. Evolution works just fine with Gmail

ok, thanks, problem solved. I cancelled the account undewr "preferences" but the screen still registered attempt to send:from "fred at ibidnah@ yahoo .com" fiddled around and the g-mail settings from DS development and plugged those in. and found a preferences screen tab I think at the btm of the evolution screen, in the meantime I tried to reset the wizard and it wanted a consistent box check in "name" .so that was the hang-up and then back to evolution set up assistant. a missed edit button after" remove" was also a problem and I went lookin' for another attempt at wizard. finally with the more consistent experience of a friend< we got it thanks.
