Hi Jim, if you kept windows when you installed Ubuntu, then you should be able to go into it by selecting Windows when the GRUB boot screen appears after your computer first boots. It should be in the black screen right before the Ubuntu logo appears. If it is not there, then you formatted over Windows and you will have to reinstall it. If you want to get rid of Ubuntu, you don't uninstall it, instead you just format over that partition, and optionally install another operating system on it. Ubuntu should have told you that you may lose the data on your partition before you formatted over it (if that is the case). I am sorry if this is an inconvenience.

Also, if we may ask, what is the reason for wanting to go back to Windows? Is there a problem or something that Ubuntu doesn't do that you(or your wife) requires?
Please give us a description of your system. Usually if there is nothing on the hard drive that you wish to save, using the original system restore disks or the original Windows install disk will get your system back to original condition.

Best Regards,

i want to remove ubuntu as well. i have a 500 gig drive that has xp, xandros 3 and ubuntu.
Xandros 3 and xp have no real issues -i tried xandros 4 on this drive also another machine -way too slow, so i removed it -kept locking up. now i've tried ubuntu , a lot slower than xandros3 and evolution sucks -compared to tbird where i can access and see all my email accounts- i do not know why anyone would want to use this dog.
at first i wanted to get rid of evolution -not allowed to -so now th os goes and i'm moving on to slackware 12.0
