how do I change colour of fonts _reading_ email (and size)

Asked by theshowmecanuck

The fonts in Evolution, in the received email... not the composer... are too small and they are a light grey colour. The light grey colour is very hard for me to read. I would like to make the text / font a darker tone. Black would be nice. I would also like to make the font larger. The problem is I don't see anywhere in Evolution nor in Ubuntu in general that allows me to do this. This is definitely a usability issue. I like Evolution but it is too hard to read with that light grey colour. It might work for the younger folks who program the email client, but no for me. :)

Please help me figure out how to set the view preference that would make using Evolution a good experience for me. All the answers I see are related to the composer and telling people to choose html.... I am reading not composing, and there is no option for this. I would also like to be able to change the size in the preview window as well. I see no options for this.

Hi,

I don't want to hijack this question, rather add to it.

I have the same problem and in my case it's down to the dark theme I'm using I think. The theme is based on Aurora Midnight which is dark grey background with very light grey text (#D4D4D4).

When I receive plain text mail there isn't a problem as the background shows the dark grey and the light grey text shows up clearly.

However, when I receive HTML mail with a light (or white) background Evolution still changes the text colour to light grey and makes the mail virtually impossible to read. This occurs both in the preview and full read window.

Is there an option to either specify the required font colour or, preferably, stop Evolution changing the font colour for HTML mails?

O/s: Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) i386 desktop
Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-16-generic
Desktop: Gnome 2.22.1

Problem:
Difficult to read text in HTML mails when HTML background is light colour and system theme has a light font colour.

Probable cause:
Evolution is applying system theme font colour to HTML mails but retaining original HTML background.

Probable resolution:
Stop Evolution changing font colour in HTML mails (i.e. retain original HTML colours) or even better, specify a preference option to change font colour or not.

Regards
