task alarms

Asked by Greg

How do you add an alarm/reminder to a task?

If this isn't possible, it would be a really helpful feature to add to the project's to-do list.

There is currently no alarm/reminder option as you may expect in Microsoft Outlook, but tasks do change color in both Evolution and the Clock applet when they reach there deadline.

Sorry Hans, you are wrong about MS Outlook. In the 2003 version, Outlook does have a reminder for Task event. Changing color does not solve the problem

My apologies, I may have misunderstood your response (after re-reading it, I think you were agreeing there is no alarm/reminder in Evolution for task events).

Having an alarm on Tasks helps the user to better manage which tasks need to be completed soon. Changing color once they hit their deadline (i.e. due date), is a bit after-the-fact. They should have already been completed.

Ideally, any dated event type should have the ability to have an alarm attached, not just appointments.

hello,
you can install "KAlarm" from Add/Remove program.
Applications ----> Add/Remove and search for kalarm.
Install the application.

to launch "KAlarm" type in terminal:
kalarm

you can see the clock icon right top your desktop..
hope this help....

naufal, thanks for the suggestion. But, I might as well use Korganizer which allows reminders on To-Do (i.e., Tasks). events.
Hmmm... ;-)
