Can't log in to GMail IMAP; insists I'm offline

Asked by Dave Corbett

I'm trying to set up a GMail-hosted IMAP account in Evolution 3.2.3 where I already have a working iCloud IMAP account. When I try to open the folders list, Evo spins for a bit and then tells me "You must be working online to complete this operation." When I try to "Receive" on the GMail account, nothing appears to happen.

The account in question uses Password for both SMTP and IMAP, but Evo has yet to ask me for a password. I tried "Forget Passwords" and relaunched, and was prompted for my iCloud password, but not the GMail one.

Can someone please tell me what I'm missing, or tell me to report a bug?

Thanks.

Did you put Evolution in offline mode?

I've taken it offline and put it back online; I can see the folders
on iCloud but not the ones on GMail.

I've also just confirmed that I can send mail *from* Evolution, after answering the "password" prompt, but I still can't open any folders or see new messages on the IMAP server.

FWIW, I have set up the same GMail account on Apple Mail 2.1.3 with no problems.

I just verified that I can also set up this Gmail account in Thunderbird, and that it still doesn't work in Evolution.

Anyone? Buehler?

I just checked with another GMail account (one is @gmail.com, the other is GMail-hosted) and Evolution can't access either one.
