New user and need help setting up my sending and receiving part of the email.

Asked by bignreel

I can not send emails. I just loaded Ubuntu today and I am trying to set everything up. I am an old windows os user but don't anymore. I think I set my stuff up wrong because I don't know what I am doing yet. I have Comcast connection to the internet. I don't know the language nor do I know the difference between pop3 and any other terms. Please forgive me for my lack of knowledge. I need to get everything up and going asap though. I have pressing legal issues with other sources(SSA and the IRS).Thank you for your help.

If you are using COMCAST and your email is not working suddenly?
You might have recieved a bogus E-Mail from Comcast stating that your sending Spam.
Dont Panic... dont install their Crap Ware.. They are now blocking port 25, the standard SMTP outgoing mail port.
Change your smtp from port 25
smtp.comcast.net this will default to port 25
smtp.comcast.net:587 will change the port to 587.. the : is what changes the port...
If you have other email address that might be using this same defaulting port, (such as the compnay I work for) call your IT person, there should be a back up port such as 26, or 587...
Next Write Comcast a nasty letter about the declining service..........
I would suggest scanning your PC for infection frequently....
Comcast seems to be rounding up IP address in ranges, not individually, and blocking port 25?
