How to install older version backup evolution file in new evolution version

Asked by Manuj

I had update ubuntu 12.04 LTS and wi-fi stopped working. I was not getting option to update to 12.10 or 13.04 so I reloaded new ubuntu 12.10. The new evolution mail was installed too. However evolution is not restoring the backup of earlier version. I am also not getting option to install older version of evolution.

How can I retrive the data from the older version backup file of evolution in any email systen i.e. thunderbird, evolution outlook etc.

Thanks,

Manuj

Try this

Make a copy of .local/share/evolution/mail/local Put the copy in some non-hidden folder like Documents

Open Evolution - Main - On This Computer

Select the folder you want to restore, such as the Inbox

Select (top menu) File - Import...

From the Evolution Import Assistant choose: Continue

select Import a single file - Continue

select a file name (if it's in Documents, click your user name then Documents) look for the file that only says Inbox (after

selecting it may take a while before you get you next prompt)

it should says file type Berkeley Mailbox, then just click Continue

it should say the Destination folder, if good, Continue

Then click Apply to import the data
