In evolution go to Edit --> Preferences --> Mail accounts --> (your account) --> Edit --> Sending mail --> Switch off "Server requires authentication" and see if that fixes it. Most ISPs don't require you to send your user/pass when sending mail, they figure out you're a real customer by the IP address you have (one of theirs).

A FIX:
I tested Ubuntu 7.10 + Evolution 2.12 and found LOGIN
Authentication works when also use complete e-mail address
for authentication Username--i.e., <email address hidden>

A Potential Fix from Alan Pope:

whenever I try to send email an evolution error appears tell me that the smtp server cannot be found.

The smtp server is suppose to be smtp.cogeco.ca. instead the error message tells me that the smtp server is written as <email address hidden>

what can I do to rectify the address that is in error on the sending mail.
Thank you.

Robert
