Looking for evolution 3.6.3 release

Asked by Samarjit Adhikari

Hi All,

Currently i am using ubuntu 12.10 with evolution 3.6.0. The user experience for evolution 3.6.0 was not good.
Recently evolution 3.6.3 was released with following bug fixes

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=692009
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=691772
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=691834
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=691732

Is there any plan to include those latest fixes in ubuntu 12.10 update, if yes, what's the time line.

With regards,
Samarjit

Ubuntu is not a rolling release so software is usually only updated for significant bugs and security patches between releases.

You can report a bug by pressing CTRL+ALT+T and entering
-------------------------------
ubuntu-bug evolution
-------------------------------
and in the window that opens provide details of why the update is needed with a link to the source code

Alternatively you can request a backport. version 3.6.2 is due to be released in raring ringtal

the deb for it is here
http://packages.ubuntu.com/raring/evolution

The procedure for requesting a backport is here
http://packages.ubuntu.com/raring/evolution

Its also possible to manually install 3.6.2 from the deb file but you need to check all the dependencies carefully as other packages may be needed first
