How do I backup emails to a flash drive please?

I want to upgrade my system from Natty to Ubuntu 11.10 and would like to backup all my emails in Evolution to a flash drive just in case something goes wrong. No option to do this comes up as it does with other files. As you can guess, I am not a Linux expert. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for your prompt reply. I think all three links were helpful but I chose the third option " http://askubuntu.com/questions/11899/backup-evolution-mail " and it worked. I am not sure quite how I got it to work, at first I thought I had lost everything because the Evolution app wasn't there, but the next time I started the computer it all appeared like magic.
