Configuring Evolution to Collect Mail

Asked by Bryan Mitchell

I have configured the account using my ISP's information but when I click on Send/Receive nothing happens. Yes I was online!
(Broadband) I had no difficulty in setting Kmail on SuSe 9.

1. Open Evolution

2. Click Edit -> Preferences -> Mail Accounts

3. Highlight your mail account and click the Edit button

4. On the Receiving mail tab, what do you have for Server Type? Server Configuration? Does your ISP require SSL or TLS encryption? What Authentication type do you have selected?

Answer those questions and we'll go from there.

Thanks for the offer to help.
Here are the details you asked for:
Server Type: POP Mail Server
Server Configuration:
Name: mail.onetel.net.uk Port 110
Username: <email address hidden>
Security settings: Never use secure connection. No request from ISP but on XP I use "TSL if available".
I have tried using Thunderbird, but the result is the same, the connection times out. SMTP doesn't work either.

Can you help with this problem?
