How do i route my e-mail from hotmail.com to my pc ? i dont understand the server questions in the setup

Please explain to me how the set up system work with routeing and what settings i need to use.

Have you already had your hotmail connected t your PC befoe via outlook, outlook express, thunderbird, evolution or some other program or did you before always use the website itself (via IE, firefox, etc.) ?

Non-Free Hotmail users can fetch mail from hotmail POP3 server
Free Hotmail users cannot fetch mail from hotmail POP3 server

                               but......

Free Hotmail users can fetch mail from Hotmail using freepops package

sudo apt-get install freepops
freepops -p 2000

Configure your mail client with following parameters:

POP3 server: localhost:2000
user: <email address hidden>
authentication type: password

Now you should fetch mail from hotmail.

(if it's alright, remember to add "freepops -p 2000" in System -> Preferences -> Sessions -> Startup rograms so freepops will be active next time at boot)
